Pnu Power Compressed Air Batteries launch at Expo 2010 Shanghai: are conventional batteries dead?

02/07/2010 09:05:39Pnu Power compressed air batteries use a robust scroll generator to deliver reliable backup power at lower cost than conventional lead acid systems. Note to editors hi res JPEGs available from John Hutchinson(john@bcanet.co.uk).

Pnu Power compressed air batteries (www.pnupower.com) have been launched worldwide at Expo 2010 Shanghai, as the smarter alternative to conventional lead acid systems for Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS) and standby power.

Developed and manufactured in the UK by Energetix (Pnu) Power Limited, the new batteries work from any air supply – cylinders or plant mains – using a highly reliable scroll generator to deliver instant power in 3, 5 or 10kW capacities, with custom builds up to 50kW. Outputs include AC, DC and split AC/DC from 12V to 240V.

Sales and Marketing Director Richard Conlon said that: “Pnu Power compressed air batteries are a step change in backup power technology for applications including telecoms switching, utilities switching, data centres, industrial commercial buildings, command and control centres, emergency services communications, rail and transport signalling.

They are inherently reliable, offering lower initial and whole life costs than traditional backup systems, with very low maintenance and consistent performance: and they are supplied as plug-and-play units in their own weatherproof enclosures, which can be installed typically in under three hours and are highly tolerant of harsh environmental conditions.

Pnu Power compressed air batteries are being distributed worldwide by power engineering specialist EA Technology (www.eatechnology.com), which has offices in Shanghai, Australia, Abu Dhabi and the USA, together with 30 regional distribution partners.
